KLANG: Commuters will be treated to free rides on the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) 1 Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) Line when its Phase 2 route from Semantan to Kajang is launched on July 17.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said "good news… plus a bonus" will be announced on that day when the second phase is officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

It will mark the completion of the 53km MRT 1 SBK Line, which runs from Sungai Buloh to Kajang and cost RM21 billion to build.

The first phase of MRT 1 from Sungai Buloh to Semantan began operations at the end of last year.

"Opening up the Phase 2 line is already good news, and July 17 will be a historical day in Malaysia. We are proud of the MRT project which is being completed within the (set time frame and budget, and) where everything was done efficiently and effectively.

"This is a mega project that will not only reduce traffic congestion and enhance public transportation, but also drive economic growth and (have a positive) impact on businesses along the route," said Liow.

He was met after launching the 43rd Klang Music Festival at the Hokkien Association here today.

Also present was the association’s deputy president, Soo Hak Min.

SEMANTAN TO KAJANG MRT LINE TO START IN JULY 2017

Phase two of the Mass Rail Transit (MRT) service, from Semantan to Kajang covering a distance of 30 kilometres and involving 19 stations, is expected to be fully operational in July.

Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Zohari Sulaiman said it was an extension of the phase one route from Sungai Buloh to Semantan, which began operations in December last year.

"According to MRT Corp plans, the phase two of the MRT 1 route was expected to be launched in July and the route from Semantan to Kajang would be opened," Zohari told reporters after launching the Rapid Rail Fiesta at the Ara Damansara Light Rail Transit (LRT) station yesterday.

TSRA WASHROOM CABIN LIFTED INTO PLACE

Our Washroom cabin was lifted into place this morning.

Incoming and outgoing water piping and electrical wiring will be done to complete the works before it can be commissioned.

This facility was made for the convenience of our security guards and TSRA COMMITTEE members and our Taman members.

ILLEGAL RIGHT TURNING NEAR TAMAN CHEERS PLUGGED

It is good that DBKL finally plugged the illegal right turning into Harbour Seafood Restaurant.

A concrete divider has been installed to prevent unauthorized persons to turn right.

Concrete barrier preventing illegal right turning by motorists.

They have caused inconvenience to others motorists and blocked the road.

TNB CONTRACTOR CHANGING OVERHEAD ELECTRICAL CABLES

Recently, I noticed some roads overhead electrical cables are being changed.

Current TNB overhead cables are not insulated. So, when tree branches touches two of these exposed cables, it can cause tripping.
With the new insulated cables, tree branches will not caused tripping.

Hopefully, all overhead cables within our Taman will be changed over time.

OPEN TSRA CABIN ON WEEKENDS FOR SENIOR RESIDENTS

With our new aircon TSRA cabin, it should be opened on weekends for senior residents activities. Seniors can meet up for tea drinking, play Chinese chess or Chess or Go. These games can stimulate their mental function.

It can be from 3.00 to 5.30pm on Sunday's.

Besides for seniors to meet up, other activities can be organised so that residents can meet besides CNY celebration like last night.

Talks on safety, security and home activities can also be organised.

We hope our TSRA management committee can take note on our suggestions.

Our Residents Association held our CNY CELEBRATION at our TSRA CABIN last night.
Residents were given free meals by TSRA which began at 7.30pm.
